(Photo by Maluding Deedo)YALA -- An assistant village chief tasked with "peace-making" was slain by motorcycle gunmen as he returned to his home in Yaha district on Sunday night, police said. Pol Capt Montree Wichitwechakarn, deputy chief investigator of Yaha police, said the man was attacked about 10.45pm at Kuwing village in tambon Baro. Usman Tosamae, an assistant village chief for peace-keeping, arrived back home on a motocycle after completing night duty. The bullets also hit two parked pickup trucks and a nearby house, making holes in them.
